Refurbished Fall Wreath

This old white wreath has been hanging around (literally) in my craft room for months.

It originally was decorated with wooden spring items (a watering can, bee's, and flowers).

I decided to reinvent it for a fall door decoration this year. I removed all the previous adornments and

added some dollar store finds to it....foil leaf garlands in gold copper and red, three paper leaves, and some leftover raffia and fabric scraps.

All total about 10 minutes and I had a new wreath out front!

Easy, peasy!

THANKFUL Bunting

Ii love drop clothes! I am quickly finding out that you can make oodles of projects from just one.

So far I've made a pillow cover, this bunting, a tablerunner and I have plans for curtains.

I cut 8 diamond shaped panels from the dropcloth. We'll just say I eyeballed it. I'm not so much into measuring things!

I sew'd the edges with a quick zig zag stitch on my machine...

then sorted through my stash of foam letter stickers and paint. I decided

to go with turquoise paint for the lettering. Do you think it's too light?

I added wide brown seam binding as the top edge and attached it using orange thread in a zig zag stitch.

To make the loops on the end, I folded two small pieces of ric-rac and sewed them on, embellishing the front

with a simple green button.

Looks pretty and a very simple decoration for the upcoming holiday.

I like it.

Today I was inspired by Gina over at The Shabby Creek Cottage to make a crafty kids project using coffee filters! Head on over to her site, to see lots of inspiration for filters, coffee sacks and recipes containing coffee.

I thought, and I thought, and I folded and searched my craft room. I came up with

5 coffee filters
a pine cone
2 googly eyes
a piece of orange cardstock
one popsicle stick broken in half
a scroll stamp
red felt
ink in red, green and black
a glue gun

First I folded my filters in half, then in half again and stamped them using my big old scroll stamp...
a little hot glue and....

Here's my take on a coffee filter turkey....

You could easily sub white glue for a kid friendly craft, instead of the hot glue.

These guys would look cute on a mantle, or on a tabletop for

your turkey dinner!

Day 2: Dollar Store Turkey

My kids love making turkeys to set around our house for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday...they also love to run around the house making gobbling noises!

Yesterday we whipped up these cute little turkeys from items I had around the house. Easy for a kid craft...with maybe a little help from an older turkey!

Supplies: All from the Dollar General!

One small foam gourd
Gesso or creme acrylic paint
Brown ink pad and a papertowel
Artificial leaves (mine came like 10 in a bag!)
2 clothespins (or you can substitute pipe cleaners for the feet)
googly eyes (i love saying that!)
orange cardstock for the beak
red felt (for the gobbler)

Step 1: Paint your gourd!

I painted mine with acrylic Gesso and left some of the underlying green show through. Then I used my handy dandy Staz-On ink pad in timber brown to "distress" my turkey's body. I did this very easily with a paper towel, rubbing the ink all over the gourd body......
