Pantry door

 

I have big plans for my kitchen.  By big I mean lots of paint!  Deep barn red to be exact and it will be on all my cabinets.  I cannot stand my factory grade cabinets and we can't afford new one's so I'm diy-ing it.  I have painted cabinets before in my old house.  It is very time consuming, but it's worth it.  Last night some of the re-do began with another color though....

I painted my previously white pantry door a turquoise and distressed it.

I have an old china cabinet that I will be painting this color too!

February Garden

Our garden may not look like much, but I have huge hopes for this little plot we fenced off.  It isn't the prettiest, but it's functional and will {hopefully}keep our fridge chock full of fresh veggies this summer.

 

Our garden is about 16 x 20.  We have one 4 x8 raised bed and then I am going to do some container gardening this summer using Lowe's 5 gallon buckets. 

 

The trellis on the right will be for cucumbers.  The other side will be for peas. {which I planted yesterday!} The plan for the raised bed is this:

brussel sprouts

eggplant

broccoli

cabbage

cauliflower



We are utilizing the square foot gardening method so some of these plants will be by their lonesome

this year.

 

I planted red potatoes in the Rubbermaid totes on the sides.  We'll see how that goes. 

The large blue pot houses my rosemary plant which I hope comes back this year.

 

 

The rest of the five gallon buckets will be for tomatoes, squash, and pole beans.  I have several smaller pots for herbs. 

 

I saw some of my onions peeking out through the soil...love it!

Lent

     We wanted to teach and understand more about Lent this year so I found some ideas on Pinterest (yeh!) and made a little poster to hang in our homeschool room.  I found lots of great ideas for projects to do over the next 40 days.  I will be posting them as we do them over the next few weeks:)

 

We put flags at the bottom to give us a guide for our everyday routine.

The kids are excited about the coloring path on the calendar and we started off tonight by making our purple prayer chain.  We challenged the kids to write one name on each strip of purple paper.  It could be a friend, a relative, or someone they didn't even know.  We really hope to encourage the idea of thinking of others before ourselves and also thinking globally, not just in or own home. 

 

Of course, no one is willing to give up ANYTHING...but it's a work in progress and in the right general direction for us!

Mardi Gras

 

We celebrated Mardi Gras here at the Frazier's with some "King Cake" {which was really Cinnabons with sprinkles}, some shrimp gumbo {which was pretty good if I say so myself}.  Lucas donned a mask and we listened to jazz on Pandora all day!

Valentine's Day

 

We celebrated Valentine's Day at home...I had to work the night before and so I slept in late...thus, we had out lobster tail the NEXT night, lol.  Lots of candy goodness and sweet cards for everyone!

I heard a big noise outside the front door this afternoon.  Birds and a lot of them.  They were everywhere.  Swarming in the trees and all over my front yard.  Very pretty to watch.
