100th Day of School

When you homeschool, your 100th day of school likely does not match the public school districts 100th day celebration.  This is due to my {ahem} rather flexible schedule.  Kind of like why we are on the 100th day of math and language arts, but only day 65 of science and history!  No worries!

Well Friday WAS our 100th day of doing our Easy Peasy Homeschool so we celebrated with some fun activities, goodies and craft projects.....

Artsy stuff

 

I downloaded this free printable online to color...

 

 

The kids made these funky 100 day hats using 10 strips of paper and bingo markers...10 on each strip to make 100!

We had this fabulous 100 snack! Twinkies and donuts, YEAH!

You could build a structure using 100 lego's....

The kiddo's  had a great day of fun celebrating and they are now officially

Today's St. Patrick's Day project....

 

I downloaded today's project from Scholastic.com.  You only need the rainbow clipart, a sheet of white or blue paper, tissue paper and cottonballs!

 

I had the kids color the background sky and then glue the cut out clipart rainbow on.

 

We then cut little square of multicolored tissue paper and glued them on.  The clouds were ripped up cotton balls.  Cute project!

St. Patricks Day Fun

We are focusing on St.Patricks Day and those pesky little leprechauns this week!  Yesterday we made these pots of gold to fill with our "good deed" shamrocks....

 

I found the printable at Scholastic Book Club ...they have tons of activities for each month.  Did I mention I just bought 50 new books from their $1 sale???????!!!!!  I always loved when the kids brought home the Scholastic Book Club papers from school and I was super excited to find I could join as a homeschool family and get the same rates. 

 

Today we made our Six Wishes Rainbow.   The printable is from here.  Despite my best efforts to encourage thinking about others, the kids put a bunch of toys as their wishes!!  Lol, I try!

 

 

I really liked this project.  It gave letter copy practice, cutting and some creative writing with the wishes.  Plus, it was simple to put together and now they are fluttering in the breeze in my kitchen!

PILLOWCASE DRESSES

  Tonight I made my first real attempt at making pillowcase dresses for the girls.  I chose them because I wanted something quick that I didn't need a pattern for.  I found some quick instructions here. 

Madison's dress had to be altered from the original.  My bias tape was too wide, well not really, I realized I didn't fold it in half again.  So out came the scissors and I just cut it all off which now left the armholes way too big.  Oh well.  It is fine.  This was my "trial" dress so I wasn't stressing and she loved it anyway. 

 

I found the hem bias tape at Goodwill like eon's ago.  It's been sitting in my sewing box, so I decided to use it up.  It doesn't match exactly, but it's fine. 

 

I have had fabric in my cabinet for a while and I never seem to use it.  I vowed I was not going to pick up anything new until I used up what I had. {This is my new motto!}  I even went to Hobby Lobby today and DID NOT buy any new fabric!  I did get bias tape, thread and pins though. 

 

 

Emma's "trial" dress is green with purple and orange flowers.  I had originally had a striped hemline on it but didn't like it, so out came the scissors again!  Lol. 

 

So, I'm pretty proud of myself even though they weren't particularly difficult or anything.  I just enjoyed making them!
